5 minute excerpt from my short horror film, titled ‘Unmasked’

This is a clip from my short horror film, showing the main character switching off the light to get sleep, thus summoning his sleep paralysis demon. He hadn’t gotten any proper sleep for days due to his refusal to switch the lights off as doing so triggers his sleep paralysis. I based the film on sleep paralysis to show how detrimental it can be but I heightened its reality to increase the drama and to provide a supernatural element.

Storyboard for ‘Unmasked’

These are some of the squares from the storyboard I made for my short film, ‘Unmasked’. These images represent the shots you see in the excerpt from the film.

Storyboard for my latest short film, titled ‘Buried’

This is my storyboard for the film ‘Buried’ that I made over the Summer. I was less dependent on the storyboard for this film as I was testing my skills with Guerrilla filmmaking. However, I made one to help with the basic structure of the story. This film shows a young man exploring a graveyard when he finds out someone who had links to slavery is buried there. This causes him to have flashbacks to when he was trafficked.

Stills from my latest short film ‘Buried’

These are stills from my film, ‘Buried’. These shots focus on the main character as he explores the graveyard. For example, I made the second frame a high-angle shot to make him appear vulnerable as he’s in an unsettling environment with a dark secret. I used wide shots for the last two frames to give the impression that he’s being watched in order to create an unnerving atmosphere.

Excerpt from my script, titled ‘Confrontation’

This is a two-page excerpt from my script which depicts former students reminiscing about their past experiences with another character who was known for his racist and sexist behaviour, at their secondary school reunion. There’s tension between characters Dennis Aakeel and Liam Wayne due to Liam’s friendship with that problematic character, who subjected Dennis to abuse. This scene is building up to a confrontation between Dennis and Liam. I made this script because I wanted to tackle the issues of racism and misogyny in the school environment, as these are problems that can be highlighted and challenged through the medium of film.
